| 실험목표
화학 실험의 기본 중의 하나인 물질의 질량이 반응 전과 반응 후 질량의 값이 같은가 을 알아보는 실험이고 화학반응은 원자들이 재배열할 뿐이지 원자들을 창조시키거나 소멸시키지는 않는다는 것이다. 따라서 반응계 물질의 총량을 측정하여 질량보존의 법칙을 실험적으로 밝힌다.
